Nasya Treatment in Pune
Medicated drops through the nose, for complaints above the neck.
In brief
Nasya is the Panchakarma procedure in which medicated oil or other medicine is put into the nostrils. Ayurveda uses it for complaints above the neck. At Shree Skin & Hair Clinic on Senapati Bapat Road, Pune, Dr. Nileema Shisode, M.D. (Ayurved) in Kayachikitsa-Panchakarma, gives Nasya for chronic rhinitis, cervical spondylosis and weakening eyesight.
What Nasya is used for
- Chronic rhinitis and sinusitis
- Cervical spondylosis and stiffness of the neck
- Weakening eyesight
- Other long-standing complaints of the head and neck, as the doctor advises
How Nasya is done
- The face, neck and shoulders are massaged with warm oil
- Gentle steam is given to the face
- You lie back with the head tilted, and the medicine is put into each nostril drop by drop
- You rest for a few minutes and clear the throat of anything that comes down
Nasya is usually given once a day for a number of days in a row. The doctor sets the number.
Before and after
Nasya is not given straight after a meal or a bath. Afterwards, keep away from cold wind, cold drinks and dust for the rest of the day, and do not wash your hair immediately.
When Nasya is not advised
It is postponed during a fever or a fresh cold with a running nose, and is not given during pregnancy or to someone who has just eaten. A nosebleed, or a headache with fever and a stiff neck, needs a medical examination first.
