In brief
Pattern hair loss, or androgenic alopecia, is the gradual, inherited thinning of scalp hair: a receding hairline and thinning crown in men, and a widening parting in women. In men
The hairline recedes at the temples and the crown thins. Rejuvenation therapy and PRP are used to strengthen the hair that remains. Where the loss is advanced and a transplant is needed, rejuvenation and PRP follow the transplant.
In women
The parting widens and the hair over the top of the head thins, while the front hairline usually stays. Hormonal and nutritional causes are looked for, and the plan is made for the individual.
What to expect
Treatment aims to slow the loss and thicken existing hair. It works best when started early, and it needs keeping up: the tendency is inherited and does not go away.

No medicine or procedure brings hair back on skin that has been completely bald for years. If that is the case, the doctor will say so.

Can pattern hair loss be reversed?
Thinning hair can often be thickened and the loss slowed, most of all when treatment starts early. Skin that has long been bald does not regrow hair with medicine or PRP.
Is PRP useful in pattern hair loss?
The clinic uses PRP together with rejuvenation therapy for it. The doctor will tell you whether it suits your stage of hair loss.
Is treatment different for women?
