Vampire Facial (PRP) in Pune
Platelet-rich plasma from your own blood, applied to the face with microneedling.
In brief
A vampire facial is a skin rejuvenation procedure that uses PRP, platelet-rich plasma, prepared from a small sample of your own blood and applied to the face with microneedling. Shree Skin & Hair Clinic on Senapati Bapat Road, Pune, offers it under Dr. Nileema Shisode, M.D. (Ayurved), PGDCC.
What happens in a sitting
- A small sample of blood is taken from your arm
- It is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma
- A numbing cream is applied to the face
- The plasma is applied while the skin is microneedled
The skin looks red for a day or two, like mild sunburn.
Who it suits
It is chosen for dull or tired skin, fine lines and uneven texture, and is sometimes used for scars alongside the dermaroller. The change comes gradually over several weeks and over more than one sitting.
When it is not the right choice
PRP is not done in blood or platelet disorders, for people taking blood-thinning medicine, during pregnancy, or where there is a skin infection or active acne on the face. Tell the doctor about any illness and every medicine you take.

Questions patients ask
Why is it called a vampire facial?
Because it uses your own blood. The name is popular; the procedure is PRP with microneedling.
Is PRP safe?
The plasma comes from your own blood, so there is no question of reaction to a foreign substance. It is not suitable for people with certain blood conditions, which is why the doctor takes a history first.
How many sittings are needed?
Usually more than one, spaced some weeks apart. The doctor will advise after seeing your skin.
