Abhyangam (Ayurvedic Oil Massage) in Pune
The warm oil massage that reduces vata and prepares the body for Panchakarma.
In brief
Abhyangam is the Ayurvedic massage of the whole body with warm medicated oil. It reduces vata and is the first step of preparation for the main Panchakarma procedures. At Shree Skin & Hair Clinic on Senapati Bapat Road, Pune, the oil is chosen by Dr. Nileema Shisode, M.D. (Ayurved), and much of it is prepared at the clinic itself.
What Abhyangam is given for

- Reducing vata: dryness, stiffness and aches
- General care for healthy ageing
What happens in a sitting
- Warm oil is applied over the whole body
- The body is massaged with long strokes on the limbs and circular strokes on the joints
- A steam bath usually follows, to bring on perspiration
